Good News That Will Make You Happy
I have got some bit of good news to share with you. I learned from the four lepers in 2 Kings 7 who had some good news to share that I’m not doing right if I did not share it as well. Surely, this day is a day of good news. The lepers had stumbled into the Syrian camp and found it deserted. After helping themselves to the food and loot, they remembered the starving people of Samaria, shut in as a result of a Syrian siege. Their response was “We are not doing right. This day is a day of good news, and we remain silent” (v.9). So they went and told their fellow Israelites about the provisions.
Despite their physical and social disadvantages, the lepers thought about others. They were thankful for what they had found and considered it too good to keep to themselves. Do you know someone who needs to know what Jesus has done? Don’t make excuses for what you lack in abilities, instead, share the good news of what the Lord has done for you, and your life will take on a new purpose.
However, in this article series, I’ll be giving out bits of good news that will constantly keep you happy, without fail. Remember when God sent His angel with a news, the angel referred to the news or tiding of the birth of the Saviour, Christ the Lord, which thing he came to bring or break to the shepherds, as “Good tidings of great joy,” that is “a good news or tiding that should cause great joy to the hearer”. The reason is that humanity had been doomed for sin and its consequences and needed a Saviour but none was available (Ezek.18:4; Rom. 6:23; 10:15; Luke 2:10-11; Psalm 49:7-8).
God in His infinite love, mercy and grace offered to provide a Saviour for humanity in the person of His Son Jesus Christ (John 3:16; Eph.2:4-5, 8-9; Rom.8:32). The above being the case, the news of the birth or arrival of that Saviour of humanity is a good news or glad tiding, and one that should cause great joy to the hearer who appreciates the awful consequences of sin and what it is to have a Saviour and be saved from it (Acts 8:29-39; Lk.15:7, 10). It then becomes a terrible and unfortunate thing for any person in the world not to find the news or message of a Saviour having been provided for the world; and a testimony of a sinner being saved from sin, a thing of great joy or something to rejoice greatly for or over, like the angles (Lk.2:13:14; 15:7,10).
The Bible which is the book of God’s revelations of His will and truths to man, contains a lot of good news or glad tidings of great joy, that is, revelations or information that are good and should cause great joy to the hearer. In fact, I can confidently say that the Bible is the source of real or true joy and hope. And if anyone desires to have real and true joy or hope, the one should read the Bible for blessed information or revelations that can gladden the heart and create hope for good in time and in eternity. Whatever joy or hope anyone has or finds in or from any other thing or quarters is never the real, true and abiding one, rather it is an untrue and ephemeral or short-lived joy or hope.
In this series, I will be considering some Biblical Glad Tidings of Great Joy and Hope and draw some great joy, assurance and hope for ourselves. I shall however, consider the much I could and leave the sincere seeker of truth with Bible to read explore the rest of the good news for his/her own benefit. It should be noted that the aim or goal of this consideration or exploration of all the good news in this article series is to help make us live a life of real joy and hope in this world or to consciously take advantage of such tidings for our temporal and eternal good.
